About Teresa Thomas, LMBT

Teresa, “Tree” Thomas, Massage Therapist in Charlotte NC

For over a decade, Teresa Thomas, known fondly as Tree, has followed the call of her heart into the study of body-centered therapy and human spirituality. A licensed massage therapist since 2010, she discovered patterns of trauma in the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual layers of both herself and others. Teresa blends trigger point and medical massage techniques with shamanic and intuitive practices to create a deeply restorative and insightful experience, fostering keen body awareness.

Her pursuit of ancestral healing led her to Asheville, N.C., where she engaged in rituals and ceremonies inspired by the Dagara Tribe of West Africa, shamanic traditions, the Four Shields of human nature, and Native American teachings. Using nature as a tool for self and ancestral healing, Teresa trained and initiated with Kedar Brown in the ceremonial art of guiding rites of passage. Over the years, she has served as ceremonial midwife, fire tender of sweat lodges, ritual guide for grief work, vision quest facilitator, and group coordinator, creating meaningful seasonal experiences that honor life’s transitions.

Since 2016, Teresa has evolved her practice to include subtle and profound shadow work that addresses the body’s energy centers through consent-based techniques. Her sessions integrate breathwork, sound, movement, guided intention, and the elements as tools for transformation. She facilitates others in connecting with their innate inner source to restore balance and well-being.

In 2020, Teresa discovered the Biodynamic Breathwork & Trauma Release System (BBTRS), a trauma-informed, somatic breathwork practice. Over the next four years, she deepened her expertise in this gentle yet powerful modality, supporting clients in releasing tension and rewiring the nervous system through a structured series of sessions.

Teresa is also a dedicated mother to three children, who continue to teach and inspire her every day. She is a passionate harvester and creator within the natural world, often found making herbal creams, tinctures, and elixirs, foraging, dancing near waterfalls, or crafting abundance in her surroundings.

Affectionately nicknamed Tree, Teresa’s deep connection to nature informs her intuitive understanding of the energetic world. With an open heart, her compassionate approach to client and group work fosters deep connection and alignment, creating experiences that support holistic well-being, clarity, and growth.
